Yin and Yang

Yin and Yang name complementary poles in Chinese cosmology. They are not good vs evil. They are paired phases like night and day.
Heavenly Stems alternate yin and yang versions of each element (for example Yang Wood Jia vs Yin Wood Yi). That polarity shows up in Ba Zi interpretation.

Yin and yang describe pairs, such as light and dark. They are not a sun sign. July 14, 2021 is Cancer in the tropical zodiac and the Year of the Metal Ox in the Chinese year calendar.
A year can be called yin or yang in Chinese cycle notes. That label is separate from the Western element of the sun sign.
