Zodiac Compatibility
Compatibility questions usually want a single number. We give you three languages instead: Western element and modality chemistry (out of 100), Chinese Sheng Xiao year-animal folk pairing (out of 100), and Vedic Ashtakoota guna milan (out of 36, with the familiar 18 minimum many traditional matchers still mention).
Add your birth context and a partner birthdate below. Chinese and Western use birthdates only. Vedic uses full time and city when you provide them.
Western, Chinese, and Vedic ask different questions
The Western score leans on sun-sign element harmony and modality pace. Chinese Sheng Xiao compares year animals — San He trines, Liu Chong clashes, and element nuance from the five-element cycle. Vedic Ashtakoota works from Moon nakshatra and rashi across eight kootas.
High scores in one system with low scores in another is common. They’re not failing each other; they’re answering different prompts with different inputs.
About the 18-guna line
Many traditional matchers treat 18 out of 36 as a minimum worth noting, with higher bands preferred. We surface Match / Not a match against that line for clarity. It’s a cultural reference point for entertainment — not a stamp on whether two people should stay.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a Vedic match here?
We treat 18 or more gunas out of 36 as meeting the common traditional minimum. Below 18 is labeled not a match on that system.
Do we need birth times for Chinese compatibility?
No. Sheng Xiao year animals here use birthdates with an early-February lunar-new-year cutoff — the same rule as our Chinese Sign Calculator. Ba Zi hour pillars are a deeper system we do not score here.
When do we need partner birth time and city?
Only for Vedic Ashtakoota when your saved profile includes birth time and city. Otherwise both charts use date-only Moon estimates.
