Dhanu Rashi Gemstone Guide
Dhanu is a fire rashi ruled by Guru (Jupiter). In Indian Vedic astrology (Jyotish), many simple planet-to-stone lists link Yellow sapphire (Pukhraj) to this rashi (sign).
Teachers often disagree on size, metal, which finger to use, or whether to wear a stone at all.

Example: how this stone differs from the next sign
Dhanu lists Yellow sapphire (Pukhraj) as the primary stone on this page.
The next sign, Makara, lists Blue sapphire (Neelam) instead. Read that page for the other stone.
Yellow sapphire (Pukhraj) appears on many Indian Vedic gem lists for Dhanu.
Many ratna lists link yellow sapphire to Jupiter as wisdom and growth symbols.
Shops sell citrine and yellow beryl as cheaper backups.

Old catalogs mixed up the name topaz with other yellow gems.
Can you wear more than one stone?
Many Dhanu pages list Yellow sapphire (Pukhraj) as the main stone. Backups such as Topaz (historical naming confusion), Citrine (commercial substitute), and Yellow beryl show up when people skip the main stone. Overview pages do not say you should wear the main stone and a backup at the same time.
Navaratna jewelry puts nine planet stones in one gold piece. That is art and devotion. It is not the same as stacking several single-planet rings without a teacher's advice.
Teachers do not all agree on wearing more than one planet stone every day. Timing in a full chart also matters.
Gem practice is optional and chart-specific. Some teachers will not recommend Yellow sapphire (Pukhraj), or any planet stone, until they review the full chart and timing.
Online ads often scare people with blue sapphire "trials," coral ethics drama, or fear sales. Step back from pressure.
A generic rashi page cannot tell you which stone to skip. Personal chart questions belong with a teacher you trust.
Meaning and symbolism
Lists use Yellow sapphire (Pukhraj) as a symbol for learning, travel, and hope. That is story and marketing, not science.
Some people treat gemstones as faith or tradition. Others wear them only for color and craft.
Historical background
Pukhraj from Sri Lanka and Thailand filled temple and court jewelry.
Traditional association with Dhanu
Navaratna means nine gems, one for each main planet, set together in jewelry. A single rashi page is only a short summary. A Indian Vedic teacher may still say a stone is a poor fit for your chart.
Buying and wearing today
Lab tests help spot dyed coral or fake sapphire. Skip sellers who promise wealth, marriage, or health cures from gems alone.
When you buy a colored gem, ask if it was treated and where it came from. Lab-grown and look-alike stones are fine when the seller labels them honestly.
Many people wear jewelry just because it looks nice. That is completely fine.

Are there stones Dhanu should avoid in Indian Vedic lore?
A teacher may advise against certain planet stones for one person’s chart. This sign page cannot name stones you must skip. Avoid fear-based sellers and big cure claims.
