Sidereal zodiac
Glossary · Last updated: 2026-07-26
The sidereal zodiac measures signs from a star-backed zero point, corrected by ayanamsa. Jyotish rashis use this system.
Your sidereal Moon sign can differ from your tropical moon sign. Both may still be called, for example, Cancer or Karka.
Example: see it on a birth date
The sidereal zodiac ties signs to the stars. On March 17, 2021 the Indian Vedic sidereal Moon estimate is Mesha rashi.
The tropical sun sign that day is Pisces. Sidereal and tropical labels can differ.

Lahiri standard
We use Lahiri ayanamsa for Indian Vedic Moon and Lagna. That matches many Indian ephemerides.
