Each of the 27 nakshatras is split into four padas (quarters). Each pada is 3 degrees 20 minutes. Pada adds extra detail beyond the rashi alone.
The Moon moves quickly. Pada can change within hours. Birth time near a pada boundary makes careful math important.
Example: see it on a birth date
Pada 1 of Anuradha is the noon Moon estimate for August 25, 2020.
A pada is one quarter of a nakshatra. The Moon can change pada within a few hours, so birth time matters near an edge.
