Pada
Glossary · Last updated: 2026-07-26
Each of the 27 nakshatras is divided into four padas (quarters) of 3 degrees 20 minutes each. Pada adds nuance beyond the rashi alone.
Because the Moon moves quickly, pada can change within hours. Birth time near a pada boundary makes precise calculation important.
On our Vedic card
When we have enough birth data, we show nakshatra plus pada. With date-only input we estimate at local noon and warn near boundaries.
