Moon sign
Glossary · Last updated: 2026-07-26
In Western astrology, your moon sign is the tropical sign the Moon occupied at your birth moment. The Moon changes sign about every two and a half days.
Vedic astrology also tracks the Moon, but in sidereal rashis and nakshatras. Same body, different coordinate system.
Why time matters
Moon sign can shift within a single calendar day. Birth time narrows the result; date-only estimates use a midday default and flag cusp risk.
