Horoscope
Glossary · Last updated: 2026-07-26
Strictly, a horoscope (hour marker) is a map of sky positions for a specific time and place. Classically that is a birth chart.
In everyday speech, horoscope means a short written forecast. It is often keyed to sun sign. This site offers daily readings and birth-date identity cards.
Example: see it on a birth date
A horoscope is a reading for a sign or a chart. December 5, 2020 has the Western sun sign Sagittarius.
The daily horoscope pages on this site use today's date. This sample is a birthday, not today's reading.
Enter your own date on the Zodiac Sign Calculator.
Many traditions
Western, Indian Vedic, Chinese, Mayan, Celtic, Akan, and Tibetan views each define identity differently. Comparing them is for learning. It is not a single truth claim.
